October “Flip this Pattern”: Competitors and Prizes

 October’s “Flip this Pattern” has been introduced and a lovely 10% discount code, FLIPIT,
has been given {good through October 2} on ALL Figgy’s Patterns.
So, now it is time to “meet the competitors” for this month!
The October “Flip this Pattern” competitors have been chomping at the bit to show you their “Flipped Creations”….and they are ready to knock your sewing socks off…..trust us! But first, a little introduction of each is in order {introduced in the order of their upcoming “Flipped Appearance”}!
Meghan {once upon a notion}

Hi Frances Suzanne readers! My name is Meghan and I am a stay at home mama to two adorable kiddies, Erin and Jack and wife to an amazing husband, Kevin. I blog over at Once Upon a Notion, a place where I like to share the clothing I make and the fun adventures me and my family go on. While I mostly sew for my kiddies (especially my daughter) I am starting to branch out and sew a little more for myself.

I started my blog a little over two years ago, right after I got my first sewing machine. On a whim, I asked my husband for a sewing machine for my birthday and have been hooked ever since! I have always loved crafts and creating things myself but, I never loved anything as much as I love sewing. It is so awesome to create a garment and have someone say “Wow! You made that?!” The best is hearing my daughter go around telling people “I’m wearing Once Upon a Notion!” So cute!

Thank you so much Ashley and Emily for inviting me to this amazing competition! I look forward to sharing my “flip” with you and seeing what everyone else creates!

Michelle {handmade martini}

Hello, everyone! My name is Michelle, and I blog over at Handmade Martini. Mostly I share sewing projects and tutorials, but sometimes I write about things like joining a gym, living with a superhero, or getting a tattoo.

I started sewing in high school, learning by trial and error from the directions inside big-box sewing patterns. When our oldest son was born I delved into sewing for kids. Both my maternal great-grandmothers made a profession of sewing, but sadly I never sat down for a formal lesson with either of them. I am blessed to have inherited a big collection of vintage fabrics, patterns, and notions from my grandmother, and you’ll often see evidence of that in my projects. (Like feed sacks. And more feed sacks. Ad nauseam. Ad infinitum.)

My husband and I’ve been married 11 years and have three kids pretty close in age whom we home school. I’d love for you to stop by our space, clear off a spot to sit, and say “hi!”
Jen {iCandy handmade}
My name is Jen and I blog with my friend Autie at iCandy handmade.  I am a stay at home mom of two kids – a three-year-old and a seven-year-old.  I grew up with an artist father and a musical, crafty mother and luckily inherited some creative genes, which help me stay sane in my {neverending} job.

Fabric is my medium of choice, though very infrequently I dabble in other types of craft.  I love to design, make and remake clothes – mainly for my daughter and myself.
I learned how to sew when I was fifteen, a skill that came in handy when formals and prom came around. It was so fun to make my own dress just the way I wanted it, and my date got a matching bow tie and vest! {Whether he wanted to or not…}

I started a fashion design program in college, but it didn’t work out, and ended up graduating in English instead.  After all these years, my fashion designing dreams never went away, and so now in a small way on iCandy, I am reviving them.
Cherie {you and mie}

Hello!  I’m Cherie from you & mie and I’m so excited to be a part of this fun series!  I live in beautiful San Francisco, California with my partner and two daughters (3 years old and one week old)!  I’ve been an artsy craftsy kinda girl since I was pretty young, but didn’t really show much of an interest to sew until after college.  I learned the basics of sewing from my mom and then really picked up when my first daughter was born.  Over on my blog, you’ll find tons of kids clothes sewing, along with some sewing for me and the home.  I love the blogging community and getting involved in fun opportunities like this – it keeps me challenged and inspired.  I can’t wait to see what the other fabulous ladies have created, and as for me, you’ll have to wait till the end of the month to see my flip!  Thanks for having me, Ashley and Emily!

********************************************************
And, what prizes are up for grabs this month?? Aside from the thrill of victory, the “viewers’ choice winner” will receive the following from our fabulous sponsors:
SPONSOR #1:
As if Figgy’s hasn’t gifted the “Flip this Pattern” series enough, Shelly is providing one Figgy’s pattern to the viewers’ choice winner. This is in addition to the complimentary Sunki pattern provided to all competitors!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Shelly for your support and contributions through this month of “Pattern Flipping!”

SPONSOR #2:
Who doesn’t love Birch fabrics???  The texture alone in these fabrics might cause one to swoon, but throw in the design component of each fabric line and …..insert audible gasp….. it is almost too much for the fabric lover to take! Birch Fabrics, mixes retro style with whimsical juvenile accents that lend themselves perfectly to nursery bedding, while still being sophisticated enough for pillows on your sofa, or curtains in your craft room. In addition, their fabric is produced from 100% organic cotton, and printed with low impact dyes.
Birch fabrics will be giving the winner 2 yards of fabric within a specified fabric line – winner’s choice of the fabric within the line!

SPONSOR #3:

Bobkin Designs has graciously contributed to the “Flip this Pattern” October sponsorship. Vanessa will be giving the winner a 2-pattern pack {winner’s choice of available patterns}. This pattern company prides itself in “Handmade Boutique Clothing for Little Ladies.” And while we are a tinge jealous of her Aussie Summer right around the corner, we are thrilled to have her share with some pattern goodness for the October winner.

As for the rest of you??? Well….the October Sew-Along Linky Party opens tomorrow….and an awesome prize package for the winner will be announced at that time! You don’t want to miss the scoop….
