September “Flip this Pattern”: Competitors and Prizes

August was fun! September’s patterns have been introduced and
a giveaway has been completed {with four lucky winners}.
And, now it is time to “meet the competitors” for this month!
The three September “Flip this Pattern” competitors have been chomping at the bit to show you their “Flipped Creations”….and they are ready to knock your sewing socks off…..trust us! But first, a little introduction of each is in order {introduced in the order of their upcoming “Flipped Appearance”}!
Ajaire {call ajaire}

Hi guys!  I’m Ajaire from Call Ajaire and I’m obsessed with sew-alongs.  Obsessed.  Good, now that that you know why I’m here, let me tell you a little about how I got here.  I was formerly a computer programmer living outside Seattle.  I met my soon-to-be husband and we decided to move back east to be closer to our family in Massachusetts.  Fast forward a few years and we’re living in Maryland where I’m fortunate enough to be able to stay home with our two year old daughter.  When she was born I was filled with all sorts of inspiration and started sewing up a storm, but let’s face it: with a little one in the house there’s not a lot of sewing time and lots of mind-wandering-inspiration time and for me the best part is the design/plan phase of a project.  Sew-alongs really lit a fire under me in terms of deadlines and themes and without them I might have a ton of UFOs hanging around the sewing machine.  I am so excited to be competing in this month’s challenge.  The spirit of the whole series perfectly captures how I feel about the online sewing community.  Thanks to Ashley and Emily for such a well organized, truly inspiring series!

Shannon {little kids grow}

Hi lovlies! My name is Shannon. I’m a “mommy lifestyle” blogger over at Little Kids Grow. I’m a super busy mom of 6 (with # 7 debuting sometime this winter.). I’ve loved clothing and design since I was little. Seems like I’ve always had a sketch pad in one hand and a fabric swatch in the other trying to figure out how to make all of those designs swimming around in my head come to life. It wasn’t until my husband and I started a family, that my passion finally had a home. When I found out I could actually make things that my family would wear, I was hooked! I love deconstructing patterns or designing my own. I especially enjoy the blank canvas and freedom of expressing myself creatively. When I began sewing in my teens, it was just a hobby. Then when we started a family, it became a nice way to supplement our clothing budget. Fast forward to now, it’s pretty much a part of my DNA. I look forward to sharing my interpretation of a terrific pattern with you.

Sally {daisy chain creations}

Sally here from Daisy Chain Creations,  a gathering of my creations, which include not only sewing, but other crafts, gardening and my kids (2 boys ages 15 and 12 and 2 girls, ages 10 and 5). I also just started a new adventure over at Sew Cool for the Tween Scene.  Sewing (and many other crafts) I learned as a young girl for 4-H.  As for blogging, I started many years ago as a way to keep in touch with my other crafty friends with whom I used to get together to craft/sew/inspire/talk/eat…you get the picture?  We all scattered across the country and saw blogging as a continuation of those craft nights. Fast forward a couple of years to when I discover the whole new world of sewing blogs and the wonderful people behind them. I still find it amazing that there is this whole community out there that “gets” what I like to do and feel honored to have a little part of it with this series. Thanks for having me, Ashley and Emily!

These ladies will be presenting their “Flipped Creations” for the next  three Thursdays
before voting for your favorite opens on Friday, September 20.
And what are they hoping to win??
What does the September “Flip this Pattern Viewer’s Choice” prize package include?
Aside from the thrill of victory, the “viewers’ choice winner” will receive the following from our fabulous sponsors:

SPONSOR #1:
Since many of Pattern Anthology’s Alphabet Collection is made for a zippered closure, Zip-It is a perfect addition to this month as far as sponsorship goes!!  Specializing in zippers {all sizes, all sorts, all styles, all colors}, they are a one-stop source for zippers. This store not only has any/every zipper you’d ever need, it also offers an educational experience for those of us with less zipper knowledge or prowess!
Zip-It is graciously giving the Viewer’s Choice winner a $25 gift certificate to their store!! Think of how many zippered outfits can be made from this prize alone….

SPONSOR #2:

Fabricworm is no stranger to many of you. This company prides itself in carrying modern fabric for modern sewists. They feature a wonderful collection of children’s fabrics, featuring themes like animals, travel, flowers, transportation, and many many more. Many beautiful Japanese import fabrics from Kokka Japan, Naomi Ito for Nani Iro, and Echino by Etsuko Furuya can also be found and purchased at their online store. And, they have one of the largest selections of organic fabrics on the web. Fabricworm features an impressive selection of designers like Alexander Henry, Heather Ross, Denyse Schmidt, Etsuko Furuya, Joel Dewberry, Michael Miller, Jay-Cyn Designs, and Amy Butler…..just to name a few. It is a user-friendly site that is easy to navigate between pages.

Fabricworm is graciously giving the winner a $20 gift certificate to use at their online store.

As for the rest of you??? Well….the September Sew-Along Linky Party opens tomorrow….and an awesome prize package for the sew-along winner will be announced at that time!

This will be such a fun month of flips! I love that we got to choose one of four patterns and can’t wait to see which ones were chosen. And lots of great stuff for boys this time around which is exciting. I’m a big follower of boy of my fellow “competitors” so no matter who wins it’ll be a great experience :)
