Light the Candle…Make a Wish…

source: lindsayliving.com
It’s our BLOGIVERSARY!!! One year of blogging has come and gone – whoa! We can’t believe it….time indeed flies when you are having fun.

What are blog years compared to human ones?? I’ve always heard a dog ages seven years for every human year that passes.  Surely blogs go through a similar time warp. Sometimes it seems MUCH longer than a year….sometimes MUCH shorter!

And since it seemed as if we were talking to ourselves for a portion of year one, we’d like to link up and recap a few pictures / “posts to note” along our year-long blogging journey….

* Favorite picture of the year *
* Post that captured a moment in time best *
* When our workload doubled *
* Post that still makes us laugh out loud *
* The “what were we thinking” post *
* Something  {here and here} we said we’d never do {and probably will never do again} *

After a year of blogging under our ‘sewing belts’, here are some of our favorite things to do in the blogging world:

1. Pattern testing {here, here, and here are a few favorites} for some amazing ladies – being dependent on patterns lends itself to this…

2. Linky parties to share our creations {and see loads of inspiration from you}
3. Meeting a few of you…..and planning a few more small get-togethers in the upcoming months.
4. COMMUNICATING with you {your emails and comments drive our desire to better ourselves as sewists and bloggers}. *And, yes….we talk about you all on a first name basis! You are our friends!! Needless to say, it is so much better than the alternative of talking to oneself…

When did we start to think as bloggers?
1. When all surroundings are potential photo shoot backdrops.
2. When weather forecasts are of vital importance….and cloudy days are appreciated.
3. When we created a ‘blog calendar’ to keep commitments and dates scheduled.

And, WOW….through this, we have a greater appreciation for  those of you that fly solo through the sewing/blogging process. We each have our part to the process, and still don’t sew and share like many of you do, day in and day out…

We began this blog to document and chronicle our adventures as we sewed for our nieces. Of course, we did get personal from time to time {here and here to name a few}…but generally we kept our focus, our focus: SEWING.

And, now, 365 days later….we can say it has become so much more than that….THANKS TO YOU! It is our hope that the next 365 days will be more amazing than the first. We aim to keep new content regularly coming your way, as well as give you the opportunity to inspire others through our site.

Looking toward next year?
To kick off the ‘new year’ on our blog, we will be hosting our first sewing series – Flip this Pattern – a year-long sewing event. And, to say we are excited, would be a major understatement…. The fun begins next week, and we hope to ‘see’ each and every one of you there!

It’s amazing that you guys have only one year under your belt. You have done so much! It feels like I’ve followed you forever. I so look forward to the flip series and seeing what else you come up with. Especially since over the next year you’ll have two nieces that can stand upright to make gorgeous clothes for :)

Congratulations! Your blog is one of my very favorite blogs! We have very similar tastes in what we enjoy sewing. (Or we would if my output ever remotely approached yours!) Keep up the good work!
